We’re Headed To Murry’s!

We’re taking another field trip to Murry’s Dinner Playhouse on July 13th! We’ll be seeing Southern Crossroads. A joyous, funny and frequently touching show set in the midst of the Great Depression, Southern Crossroads follows a traveling family of singers and musicians who arrive at their new gig finding the doors locked and the theatre out-of-business.  Knowing that “the show must go on,” this gifted family of musicians decide to bring entertainment to the locals regardless, treating them to an old-fashioned, high-spirited Southern jamboree with songs like “Mountain Dew,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “Midnight Special,” and “House of the Rising Sun.” Deadline for reservations is June 30th. The cost is $35 per person. We’ll be leaving the church at 5pm and will be returning around 10:30pm.

Ash Wednesday Observance

AshWednesday

On February 13, an Ash Wednesday Service will be held at 5 :30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. All are invited to attend.
Ash Wednesday begins the day after Shrove Tuesday and is the first day of Lent as celebrated by Western Churches. For 14 centuries the season of Lent has been a time for self-examination and penitence in preparation for Easter. The name comes from the Saxon lengten-tide referring to the lengthening of the days and the coming of spring. This 40-day period of abstinence recalls the fasts of Moses, Elijah, and Jesus, ail of which, according to scripture, lasted 40 days.
